Baby Animals Announce Album and Tour

I love their first album, its fcukin amazing. Ballsy even. Suze is possible THE best female frontwoman of any Australian act of the 90’s (I hate the Divynls).

I didn’t get to see them live either. When I was a youngin I worked at 96.5 Wave FM in Wollongong for work experience. I ws in Year 10. They loved the Bakes so much they invited him back for more work. One day they gave me 120 cds. Nice. They are responsible for the “problem” I have. Anyway, one day when I was there at 96.5 Wave FM we were doing some outdoor event thing and that night Baby Animals were playing at Waves nightclub in Towradgi – the station was a sponsor. And I wanted to go. But I didn’t want to jeopardize my future radio career by asking the music program manager (who by the way put the d1ck in d1ckhead) if I could get on the guestlist as well. Waves was an over 18’s only place back then. So I didn’t ask. But later that night the people from the station went to the gig and the band blew the gig off so they didn’t see em either.

The closest ive come to seeing these guys since then was when Dave Leslie (guitarist) filled the “Johnny” Diesel spot in Jimmy Barnes’ touring band when JB supported Bon Jovi at the benefit gig in Melbourne in 2001. And then in 2005 at the Pete Wells benefit gig at the Enmore he also played in one of the bands. Cant remember who – might have been John Paul Young. Don’t laugh, I didn’t go to that Pete Wells gig to see JPY, but rather the Radiators and Pete and Rose Tattoo and Dave Tice. And it didn’t hurt that Slash was also coming too, but bailed at the last minute. Bugger.

So that last week of January is shaping up to be a busy one for me.

Baby Animals Announce Album and Tour

by Tim Cashmere - November 19 2007

We're giving you an early warning (yes, that's the best I could come up with) on a new album from the newly reformed Baby Animals, and a national tour to go with it.

The early 90s Aussie rockers are back with their first album since their split in 1992 – 'Il Grande Silenzio' – which is due to hit stores on January 19.

The album will be released through Liberation Blue and will be made up of acoustic recordings of their hits including 'Rush You' and 'Early Warning'.

Singer Suzi DeMarchi said of the record, "It means The Great Silence, for those who don't speak spaghetti western. It seemed appropriate. It's a soft, quiet, dreamy kind of record. And it's been a long time."

The tour will be a mixture of acoustic and classic rockin' Animals.

Check them out at:

JANUARY
18 – Metro City, Perth
20 – Prince of Wales, Melbourne
23 – South Sydney Juniors, Sydney
24 – Rooty Hill RSL, Rooty Hill
26 – A Day On The Green – Bimbadgen (with Himmy Barnes, Diesel, Mahalia Barnes, Tim Rogers and Archie Roach)
27 – Doyalson RSL, Doyalson
