Prince - Coachella setlist

I really hope a decent recording surfaces of this show.

One of the greatest concert experiences of my life was seeing Prince at The Basement here in Sydney back in 2003. It was the afterparty for his show that night at the Entertainment Centre. Prince and the band got on stage about 330am and played the 200 person capacity club for about 2 hours. It was just amazing. He didn't perform Purple Rain (my favourite track of his) at the main show earlier in the evening, but did a phenomenal 10 minute version of it at the club. Bill has a recording of the show - I believe its the only recording of the night. I must get it off him one of these days. Ill forever be in debt to Bill for getting me in to that gig.

Coachella has to be one of the worlds best music festivals in the US. Check the line up.

Heather was at the festival for all three days. Hope she rehydrates from the heat quickly and posts one of her great reviews.

Anyhoo, check out the Prince setlist.

Let's Go Crazy (from Purple Rain, 1994)

Heres a video of him doing Radiohead's Creep from Coachella.

He played Glamorous Life!!!!, but I don't think Sheila E performed it with him at the festival. Man, I so loved this song back in 84/85. This, Ray Parker Jr's Ghostbusters and the entire Thriller album. I went through a Billy Ocean phase too. But id like to forget that. I was saved in early 87 when I discovered Bon Jovi. Then Guns.

And ill leave you with a video of one of my favourite ever Prince performances - The 2004 Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame awards all star jam (Jeff Lynne, Tom Petty, Prince, George's son Dhani, etc) inducting George Harrison. Its total killer from the 3min 30sec mark. I love it how he just calmly walks on stage, rocks out and then calmly walks off stage. This - ladies and gentlemen - is gold.

Actually in the clip of "While my guitat.." he's visible from around 1:30 but just hides until it's his turn. Ya Gotta love the look on Dhani's face when Prince leans off the front of the stage.
