Eagles - London March 20

Killer setlist.

Ive always liked their music - growing up surrounded by AM radio kinda ingrains their music into you. Their greatest hits CD has been on constant rotation since I purchased it back in 1994. Ive never heard a bad song of theirs - even the solo stuff.

I took my dad to see them here in Sydney in Dec 2004. It was a great show and it capped off a crap year for my dad. He had surgery earlier that year, and then 6 months of chemotherapy. The ticket was an early Christmas present and he had a blast. During the chemo treatment dad would watch the Hell Freezes Over DVD constantly. It was one of the few things that put a smile on his dial that year. That and our engagement a week after the gig.

Anyway, its great to see the band back out on the road. I was unsure about the setlist when I read about the tour opener. It want to see some new tracks, but I also want to see the classics. I spoke with Bill today about Ki$$ and how Paul Stanley mentioned at a press conference in Melbourne last week that the fans don't want to hear the new stuff. This fan does - especially in a live show. I don't want to hear the whole new album. Im happy to hear a few (5/6) off the new album and play the hits, play some solo stuff, play a few rare tracks for the crazies (me) that will make us happy. Everyone wins. The band gets to play the new stuff (and hopefully sell some more copies of the album). The casual fans get to hear the hits. The crazies get to hear some rare tracks. Bon Jovi do this. Metallica do this. Foo Fighters used to do this. The Stones do this. Red Hot Chili Peppers do this.

I read yesterday that Helmet are playing all of the 1992 Meantime album on their April tour of Australia. This is a good thing. I just would like it if they played a few new tracks off Monochrome and maybe a few misc. tracks off the other albums.

So yeah, heres the set list. Ctrl C/V's from Undercover.com.au Its good to see that some of the band's solo stuff is represented. I really enjoy seeing Joe play his stuff from before he joined the band as well as Don and Glen doing their few hits. I hope we see a mix up of the setlist in the months to come. I hope some recordings surface from the tour. And I hope the tour makes its way back here.
